Band Saw Guides

Band Saw Roller Guides

Like with all wood workshop equipment, your band saw rollers also need to be constantly maintained in order to keep its sharp performance. Regular maintenance does not only keep your tool in tiptop shape but it also gives you huge saving and of course, lesser hassles.

Here are some guidelines in marinating your band saw rollers:

  • Cleaning
Although this task may sound simple, regularly cleaning your band saw roller can actually help increase its performance life.  You can start by using a dry clean rug and begin removing dusts and dirt. Carefully wipe the blades and remove those wood chips to protect the blade from premature wearing.
  • Lubricate
Make sure to lubricate the band saw blades. You can either use a lubricant especially made for band saw or you can combine the band saw oil with diesel or kerosene. Take note that you should never use water as a lubricant as it will only cause the blades and the rollers to rust.
  • De-tension
After using the blade, make sure that you allow it to rest for a couple of hours before using it again. Remember that the heat from cutting stretches the blade which then causes blade dullness and crack.
